This year one of our teams, the LUSA Lazercats, wo This year one of our teams, the LUSA Lazercats, worked with an elementary school to find a family that was struggling and raised money to give them a hand. The girls raised over $2000. We got tonnes of toys, books, and gift cards for groceries shoes, clothes and something special for the single mom of three kids 2,6 and 9. That is why, in partnership with the Canadian Premier League, the โ€˜Volkswagen FC: Game Changersโ€™ team was launched. The program is the CPLโ€™s way to show appreciation for a select group of Canadians who are positively impacting their communities through the beautiful game. Chelsey was seleted to recognize her contributuion as a positive leader, coach and mentor to the Langley soccer community. Many of you know her in her role as Assistant Technical Director for LUSA, but she is also a mentor coach with BC Soccer, a former regional Excel Program coach, and League1 BC Head Coach at TSS Rovers. Chelsey is also an active member of Canucks Autism and has worked with disabled bodied athletes. Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ถPlease note that LUSA will be running all regularly scheduled programming this coming Friday. ๐Ÿ”ถ๐Ÿ”ธ We are encouraging everyone to wear orange shirts this week and especially Friday for any LUSA training. Wearing orange shirts for warm up if there are games Friday evening or over the weekend would also be a great way to honour Truth and Reconciliation. Coming together as a community through sport, we have an opportunity to honour this National day through building community, inclusion and the awareness of the importance of strong relationships moving forward. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay
