Playing Time Policy

1.0 Team Selection:

An underage player wishing to play up in a higher division may only do so at the discretion of the clubs
Technical Staff and must meet the BC Soccer guidelines.

2.0 Playing Time:

Should playing time become an issue, coaches have the responsibility to justify why a player has been played less than the below noted policies. Only injuries, sickness, unaccepted absences from training and/or games at coach’s discretion, or documented disciplinary action will be accepted as reasons for not meeting these requirements. The coaches must give written notice of disciplinary action to the player, coordinator and manager at the time of the incident(s) or as soon as possible thereafter. Coaches are required to maintain a playing time sheets for reference if ever the need arises.

Under 6 to Under 10 – Equal playing time per game
Under 11 & Under 12 – Minimum of 50% per game averaged out over the course of the season
Under 13 to Under 18 Div 3 & Div 2 – Minimum of 50% per game averaged out over the course of the season
Under 13 to Under 18 Div 1 & Metro – Minimum of 40% per game averaged out over the course of the season
Under 13 to Under 18 Div 1 & BCSPL CUP GAMES – At the coach’s discretion
Under 13 BCSPL Intake – Minimum of 50% per game averaged out over the course of the season
Under 13 to Under 18 BCSPL – Minimum of 40% per game averaged out over the course of the season. For BCSPL however the aim is 40% over the season but not guaranteed and the coach’s discretion is leant on based on individual game situations.
