BCSPL Season Opens with great LUSA Results

Langley United’s official BCSPL season kicked off 18 June 2021. Langley United took in the Fraser Valley Premier BCSPL teams in late December 2020, when the Preston GM Club / Fraser Valley Premier Club was put under suspension. It has been a very long wait for the ball to start rolling in competitive matches due to the pandemic.

However, this past weekend, we put all of that behind us.Langley United kicked off the official BCSPL program on Friday evening when our 2003 girls, team hosted Mountain United FC at Willoughby Community Park playing out to an exciting 0-0 draw. The 2 original 2008 LUSA Boys and Girls teams travelled to UBC on Saturday and Sunday respectively, where they faced Vancouver United FC and both returned to Langley with wins and 3 points each in the bag.

Saturday morning saw the Mountain United FC visit Noel Booth Turf to face our 2008 boys, 2007 boys and the 2006 boys. The 2008s were comfortable 5 – 0 winners, the 2007 were on the end of a 0-3 loss while the 2006 boys earned a point with a 1 – 1 draw.

Sunday morning it was the girls turn at Noel Booth, and they did not disappoint. The morning kicked off with the 2007 girls at 9am with a comfortable 2 – 0 win over Mountain United FC, this was followed up with wonderful display of football from the 2006 girls who put 5 goals past their Mountain opposition. The 2005 girls put in a fine display of guts and character and came away with a 2 – 1 win. The 2003 girls, playing their very last game as youth players faced Fusion FC and they gain a point with a 1 – 1 draw. The 2008 girls were up against a very talented Mountain United FC team and ended up on the wrong side of a 1 – 4 loss.

Overall, the official opening of the LUSA BCSPL program was a fantastic success!
